11/9/2023 0 Comments Vox phantom ian curtisNeedless to say the first song I played on her was "Love Will Tear Us Apart. I just got this two days ago for Christmas. This Phantom is better made and plays far better than the old sixties ones. If you are looking for a Curtis Phantom this is the best you can do. Of course I selected the pure white Phantom because of Joy Division. I know they are not because I got one for Christmas. Those Vox guitars were real dogs to play. Vox sold them the rights and designs of those sixties guitars and PGW produce Phantoms and Teardrops that are actually better than the ones made in the '60s by Vox. If you want the Ian Curtis Phantom the closest you can get is by a company called Phantom Guitar Works (PGW). Not a very popular guitar at the time.and not a very good one. For that reason the Special VI is really a rare bird. Vox did a lot of loony things with their guitar line in the '60s (an organ guitar?), and obviously few of them survived a very limited production. All those effects buttons built into the guitar.just weird. Vox only made a few because, well, it was kind of stupid. But the thing is that guitar was rather stupid. CREIT: Bonhams Natalie, a professional photographer, was just one year old when Curtis committed suicide aged 23 in 1980. You have a better chance of finding the Holy Grail then getting one of them. The broken hearts| All the wheels that have turned| The memories scarred and the vision is blurred| The Eastwood copy is actually quite alot different to the original, omitting all in build effects and the Bigsby is a little more retro than the Phantom VI Special The only one I've seen is on Control, and one on a website somewhere. Sorry PhilC didn't realise you had posted about everythings gone greenĮdit-one thing I was also surprised about is the fact that there seems to be only one or 2 vox phantoms by eastwood? does anyone know how many were made? They can't be found anywhere. This is the same guitar as in the Love Will Tear Us Apart video. The Vox copy in the Control film was made by Eastwood Guitars, I think it may have been a one off for the film, I noticed the logo on the headstock, and I've got an eastwood acoustic.īernard used Ian's Vox live for new order on "Everythings Gone Green" look it up on youtube, quite a cool clip.
